Happy New Year 2009

I came across an article written for this column back in 2004 and it is still how I feel. I thought I would share part of it with you.

"Traditionally January has been a time to reflect on the old year and mark lessons learned as we look forward with new hope and resolutions to the year to come. It is always exciting to look forward to the New Year and the clean slate that it brings.

"While scrapbooking is a fun and exciting way to record memories of things we are doing and have done, family history and family traditions, it is important that we take the time and make the time to do things as a family and individually that will create those wonderful memories!

"That gentle tug at your knee, that sticky little kiss planted on your cheek, or that little voice calling 'Mommmmmeeee' might interrupt the masterpiece of a page you are creating but might lead to masterpieces of memories to be made."

As an empty nester, I must confess that when I feel a little puppy paw touch my knee and ask to get in my lap, I stop and take time to give that pup (I have 2) undivided attention. Our sweet Taffy pup loves to dance and when she gets happy we say “Taffydance” and she obliges. It makes the entire family happy. No matter how hectic things get or how my day has gone, I try to take a few minutes to dance with my dog.

Your assignment, should you decide to accept it, for this year is to take the time to dance with your hubby, your kids, your parents, or your pet. Take time to respond to the tiny hand or paw that reaches up for attention. Reach out to older hands of seniors and don't be afraid to reach out your hand for help if you need it.

Now, lets look at some things we can do with our favorite Hugware images. I must tell you that my desktop (where most everything I own is stored) was stricken and brought down and has yet to be revived even though hubby is diligently working on it as he has time.)

Senta Plyer has a “cool” Winter Woods Creatable which I thought might be appropiate since most of the world seems covered with snow and ice and even California has its share in the higher elevations. Our San Diego area has rain and some flooding.

Project 1: Missing You Card
I love the sweet simplicity of this Creatable and this paper made me think of friends who have moved and whom I would to visit. It seemed like another bird should be on the tree right across from it and makes it so perfect for a missing you card.

    Using Senta Plyer's Winter Woods:
  1. Create a new 8 x 11 document at 300 dpi.
  2. Choose your background paper and add as layer one.
  3. Add your sentiment at the bottom and match the blue to the blue in the paper by using the eye dropper tool in Digital Image Pro.

  1. Create your card on 8 x10 canvas.
  2. Put your design on lower half.
  3. Fold down top half.
  4. Write personal message inside.

Project 4: Hello Card
  1. Create your card on the right side of your paper.
  2. Add your images and fold paper in half.
(Page is extended by adding shape and filling with color using the eyedropper tool to match color of icy pond).
